ExpoDose is fully compliant with data protection regulations (e.g. GDPR)

ExpoDose® is a smart environmental exposure (exposome) dosimeter app designed for multi-participatory photobiological & clinical studies.

Enables live monitoring of personal sun exposure for health & wellbeing exposome assessment and for clinical research studies (e.g. outdoor workers, sunscreens use, vitamin D,..).

The app assesses automatically the personal sun exposure in everyday life for any number of users. No need of any solar sensor or wearable device, but just the smartphone, that can be even kept in a purse or pocket.

All data are then collected in real-time and shown on a secure web-portal accessible online for the researchers, where data can be easily downloaded in csv or xls format.

The ExpoDose® app is downloadable for free from the public app stores:

The ExpoDose® web-portal is available online at this link.
(accessible only for institutions with an active ExpoDose® license).

Smart dosimeter for personal solar exposure

  • No need of solar sensor devices or smartphone exposure to sunlight, just the App running in background on the smartphone (even kept in a purse or pocket).
  • Real-time tracking of the user sun exposure dose via web-portal analytics.
  • Whole body sun exposure mapping.
  • Photobiological effective irradiance weighted according to any action spectrum.
  • No calibration needed thanks to Earth Observation satellite imagery and GNSS analytics.

Performances

ExpoDose is based on proprietary siHealth technology  for the assessment of the spectral irradiance on ground from UV to NIR  from satellite imagery in real time.

The dose accumulated by the user is evaluated exploiting AI based algorithms that automatically  assess of the indoor or outdoor status of the user.

  • Effective solar dose accuracy: 9.1% maximum error (MAE) on horizontal plane (tested for UV erythemal at mid-latitude)
  • Weighted global solar irradiance: obtained by 1 nm spectral convolution
  • Whole body sun exposure mapping: any number of body sites at 2 cm² resolution
  • Real-time sun exposure dose tracking update: 5 minutes
  • Spatial resolution: 3×3 km² (mid-latitude)
  • Automatic detection of indoor/outdoor accuracy: > 84 % (R²)
  • Geographic coverage: worldwide (from -66° to +66° latitude)

10 dosimeters in one app

ExpoDose® monitors simultaneously the personal sun exposure on: scalp (horizontal irradiance), face (vertical irradiance), shoulders (global normal irradiance) and it can monitor up to 10 wavebands and action spectra (the “dosimeters”) obtained by 1 nm spectral convolution:

  • UV-B irradiance, Erythemal-weighted irradiance
  • Vitamin D-weighted irradiance
  • UV-A waveband
  • UV-A1 waveband
  • UV-A2 waveband
  • Visible waveband
  • HEV (Blue) waveband
  • PpIX-weighted irradiance, Photopic-weighted

for detailed information please download the Dosimeters specifications & Smartphone devices compatibility document.

How to get ExpoDose®?

The ExpoDose® system is sold via a subscription that can be activated with an easy-to-fill Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) license agreement. In case you are interested, please:

  • Donwload the template (see below)
  • fill it according to the needs for your study (e.g. number of participants, duration)
  • send it via email to sales@sihealth.co.uk

As soon as our team receives your request, they’ll provide you a quotation for the required service.

When you accept the quotation and sign the SaaS agreement, your ExpoDose® license will be activated according to the agreed conditions and:

  • a unique app “access code” will be generated for your institution, allowing users (e.g. study participants) to access the ExpoDose® app by being associated to your institutions and sharing their sun exposure data with you;
  • dedicated credentials will be generated for you to log in to the ExpoDose® web-portal and access all the solar exposure data collected for your associated app users, including downloading them in csv/xls format.
  • study participants) to access the ExpoDose® app by being associated to your institutions and sharing their sun exposure data with you;
  • dedicated credentials will be generated for you to log in to the ExpoDose® web-portal and access all the solar exposure data collected for your associated app users, including downloading them in csv/xls format.
